Often people ask me “What do I need to create a card?” The answer is ” To be willing to let yourself stop trying to be in control and enjoy the freedom of creation.” Which then they roll their eyes cause they want a straight answer. I have been crafting for only a short time (since 2014) and I have learned what make tools and supplies make crafting experience from a nightmare to becoming totally craft addict.
For the newbie crafter, figuring out what you want to craft can be overwhelming and expensive. I thoroughly suggest starting with a craft box or craft club subscription. My 2 favorites are from AnnaGriffin.com and SpellBindersPaperArts.com.

Card Making Essentials
My Favorite Matte Card Stock
The weight of paper matters. When I am making cards, I have found I prefer my card base card stock to be 100 lbs to 120 lbs. This helps the card be able to stand. My Favorite Shimmer Card Stock
My absolute favorite brand of shimmer has to be Stardream. The list of papers is by most used and loved! Not shown is Copper!
My Favorite Foil and Metallic Card Stock
My absolute favorite brand of shimmer is Hygloss without a doubt. These premium papers are great for die cutting elements and using with embossing folders. Red, Green and Gold are my go to for Christmas. For Valentine’s Day I use red and pink foil paired with crystal shimmer paper from “My Favorite Shimmer Papers”. Papers listed below are by most used and loved!
